Hyvä is the modern frontend framework for Magento 2, built on Tailwind CSS + Alpine.js. It replaces Magento’s default Luma theme (which uses jQuery + KnockoutJS) and ships with 5–10× faster page loads, Lighthouse scores in the 90–100 range, and core-web-vitals green by default. Stores that switch typically see conversion lifts of 8–25% from speed alone.
Add 1 week for staging review + regression QA + the production cutover window.

Will my existing Magento extensions work with Hyvä?
Some will, some won’t. Hyvä-Compatibility-Module is required for every Luma extension to render frontend HTML — most popular extensions (Mageplaza, Amasty, etc.) ship Hyvä compat modules officially or via the community. The pre-project audit catalogues every extension on your store and flags which need (a) the vendor’s compat module, (b) a custom rebuild, or (c) replacement with a Hyvä-native alternative. You see the report before any work starts.

What is Hyvä Checkout and should I use it?
Hyvä Checkout is a one-page Alpine.js-based checkout that replaces Magento’s slow KnockoutJS checkout. It loads in < 1 second, has a 50% lower bounce rate, and integrates with all major payment gateways (Adyen, Stripe, PayPal, Klarna, Mollie, Razorpay). Yes, you should use it — every Hyvä build we ship now includes Hyvä Checkout by default. Adobe Commerce 2.4.9 ships Hyvä Checkout natively as part of the Hyvä module.

What Lighthouse score can I expect?
Out of the box, a clean Hyvä install scores 95–100 on Performance, Accessibility, Best Practices, and SEO. With heavy customisation, third-party scripts (GTM, Hotjar, chat widgets), or large media-heavy product pages, expect 85–95. We commit to 90+ as the floor on every Hyvä project — if we ship something below that, we fix it for free.

How much does the Hyvä licence cost?
Hyvä licence is paid per Magento store URL — €1,000 (one-time, perpetual) or €100/year (subscription) per production storefront. Staging environments are free. This is the licence fee paid to Hyvä Themes BV — separate from our development cost. We’ll handle the licence purchase & setup as part of the project (pass-through, no markup).

Hyvä vs PWA Studio — which should I choose?
Hyvä is best for 95% of stores: faster build (4–6 weeks vs 4–6 months), much lower TCO (no separate Node.js infrastructure), works with all Magento extensions via compat modules, and ships green Core Web Vitals out of the box. PWA Studio only makes sense for headless / app-shell / offline-first use cases — and even then, most teams find Hyvä covers 90% of the wins at 20% of the cost.

Does Hyvä need different hosting than Luma?
No. Hyvä runs on the same Magento 2 stack — PHP 8.x, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis, Elasticsearch/OpenSearch. It actually uses fewer resources than Luma because the frontend doesn’t need RequireJS / KnockoutJS bundling. Many stores see hosting bills drop after migration. We can audit your current hosting as part of the project and recommend optimisations.
Every quote includes pre-project audit, regression QA, blue-green deploy, Lighthouse 90+ guarantee, and 14 days of post-launch bug-fix coverage. Hyvä licence (€1,000 one-time or €100/yr) is separate and paid directly to Hyvä Themes.

Will the Hyvä migration affect my SEO rankings?
Yes — positively, if done right. URLs, redirects, canonicals, hreflang, structured data, and sitemaps all stay intact. Core Web Vitals typically improve dramatically (LCP from 4s → 1.5s, CLS from 0.3 → 0), which is a Google ranking factor. Lighthouse SEO score goes from ~80 (Luma) to ~95 (Hyvä) by default. We do pre/post crawls (Screaming Frog) and report any URL diffs before cutover — no surprise drops.

What if something goes wrong after the Hyvä launch?
Two safety nets: (1) Blue-green deploy means your Luma theme stays warm for 72 hours — one DNS flip rolls back instantly. (2) Every project includes 14 days of post-launch bug-fix coverage: anything that breaks because of the migration gets fixed at no extra charge. After day 14, optional monthly retainer for continued cover.

When’s the right time to migrate to Hyvä?
The best time was last year. The second best is now. Specifically: migrate before (a) your next Magento upgrade — combine the two and save 30%, (b) a re-platform or major redesign — Hyvä is faster than re-skinning Luma, (c) Black Friday — if your Luma site is slow, you’re leaving conversion money on the table. Adobe’s 2.4.9 release on May 12, 2026 ships Hyvä Checkout natively, making this an ideal combine-with-upgrade window.
