What’s your view on AI replacing junior developers?

Honest answer: AI is replacing the type of work juniors used to do (boilerplate, scaffolding, glue code) faster than companies are training juniors to do harder work. That gap is going to bite.

What I tell clients: don’t fire your juniors, retrain them. Pair every junior with Claude Code, change their KPI from "lines of code" to "PR review quality + system understanding," and they outpace mid-levels who refuse the tooling within 6 months. The ones who can’t adapt get replaced, but that was true of every previous tooling shift (IDE, compiler, ORM, framework). My workshops focus on the retraining angle, not the replacement angle.
